Week 8 Vocabulary Definitons & Examples

1) Emerge - Ex. The sun emerged from behind the clouds and the rain and made a rainbow.

to come forth into view or notice, as from concealment or obscurity: a ghost emerging from the grave; a ship emerging from the fog.
2.
to rise or come forth from or as if from water or other liquid.
3.
to come up or arise, as a question or difficulty.

2) Hypothesis - Ex. Juan’s hypothesis concerning the cause of the accident was that the driver was distracted by texting.

1. A unproven idea.

3) Implicate - Ex. Smoking has been implicated to cause premature death.

to show to be also involved, usually in an incriminating manner: to be implicated in a crime.
2.
to imply as a necessary circumstance, or as something to be inferred or understood.
3.
to connect or relate to intimately; affect as a consequence: The malfunctioning of one part of the nervous system implicates another part.
